Out of the foggy dale and up the hillside to an open sky and the light of dawn. Ten or twenty years from now, there may be someone who will read this and see that he was here and saw this, that morning when he let the 2:15 alarm slide into 2:25, got up, got dressed, fed the dogs, packed the camera gear, and drove through the night on deserted highways, thinking along the way once or twice about the dog who was his companion on hundreds of these dark nights, and hoping that in the end at the place he was going there would be something wonderful waiting.
