Ouachita Ridge Sunrise
Sept. 19, 2010
It was a couple or three years ago that I first started thinking about taking this shot, but since the sun rises in the right location only a couple of times a year, and I wasn't exactly sure when those were, it has been easy to miss the opportunities to get the shot.
With the help of a great little program called The Photographer's Ephemeris, this year I was able to get a pretty good idea of the right time to be there, and for once I was actually organized enough to remember to write down the dates in my sunrise/sunset calendar.
So this morning after getting up at a little after one a.m. and motoring half-way across the state, we were there on top of Buckeye Mountain about a half hour before sunrise, waiting for the sun to come up over Ouachita Mountain ridgelines.
